It's Pasta Month; Let's Party!

When I left you on Sunday, we were discussing the many food celebrations the month of October has to offer. Well, not only did I leave a few of them out because I ran out of time, but also because there was one I wanted to save for today. More about that later. Let's finish what we started the other day first.

There, that was easy wasn't it? One of these days I have every intention of compiling an image much like Dr. Sandra Frank has done above for the Dietitians Online website. Until then...

Let's Talk Pasta!

It isn't as if a Pasta discussion is new to this blog. I did a rather in depth post about Pasta for National Spaghetti Day back in 2010. (yes there is a spaghetti day. It's celebrated on January 4th:)

However, today's post is on a more personal note. You see, the month of October is also when I first started this blog way back in 2007. That's right gracious visitors, it's my Blogoversary!!!

If you are a regular visitor to this blog, then you also know that I like to commemorate my blogoversary with a Give-Away! Why should this year be any different?

And what kind of Give-Away would that be, but of course, A Cookbook Give-Away! See that list of Food Events at the top of this post. Look at number 7. Yep, October is National Cookbook Month too!

Here's what we're going to do. We're going to have a Pasta Party and everyone is invited!!! I know it's short notice but I think you "guys" can handle it. After all, spur of the moment parties can be just as fun as a well planned party, can't they?

And since it is my blogoversary, you folks will be bringing the food. So, you see, it's easy sailing for me, lol...

Pasta is Universal! And so is this Party.

As a matter of fact, not only is an entire month devoted to Pasta, Pasta also has one special day when it is celebrated world wide. That day is none other than World Pasta Day! on October 25th. So you see, you have plenty of time to dig out your favorite pasta dish and bring it to the World Pasta Day Party right here at Months of Edible Celebrations!

Any one of the cookbooks pictured today would make a wonderful addition to your cooking library but, these books are all mine:) And anyway, you dear visitors need brand spanking new books because you are special:) Very special. At our World Pasta Day Party, I will be giving away 4 cookbooks to four lucky winners and all you have to do to win is hope your number comes up in the drawing. Well, alright, there is one stipulation for those of you who live overseas.

1. Although new guests are always welcome, for this occasion, you should be a regular visitor to this blog. I say that because this is my way of thanking you for all the kind words and deeds you have gifted me with through the years and since overseas mailing costs can be a bit prohibitive, it just makes sense:)

That's it for the stipulations. Now the "rules."

1. Dig out a Pasta recipe. It's perfectly alright if you have served it before. I understand that this is a bit of a short notice:)

2. Celebrate National Pasta Month, including the recipe, on your blog anytime before Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Send me the link at acalenda {at} gmail {dot} com. Please put Pasta Party in the subject line:)

3. I, in return, will send you a number. That number will be combined with all of the other numbers entered and given to the random sequence generator for choosing. The first four numbers to be churned out will be the winners! Easy peasy:)

4. I'll be posting all your delicious recipes on World Pasta Day with the list of winning numbers.

5. I suppose you would like to know what cookbooks you will be winning? I'm looking into a few companies that will let you choose the book, mail the book directly to you, and also provide free shipping. Don't you worry your "pretty" heads about it, I am a woman of my word, lol...As soon as I know the particulars, I will do a Pasta Party Update. A little mystery adds to the flavor, don't you think?

I have started a Pasta Month board on Pinterest. If you would like me to invite you to be a contributor just let me know and I will add your name. I'm new to community Pinterest boards but since it is my blogoversary, I figure what the heck! I'm not ready to invite perfect strangers yet because I notice sometimes people get a bit off track when they pin on community boards so if you don't mind, I'd much rather keep it amongst us friends:) I think you have to have a Pinterest account in order for me to invite you so please keep that in mind. However, if you have a special pasta recipe you would like all the world to see, just let me know and I will gladly pin it for you:)

That's about it. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. I often forget things when I throw an impromptu party. Why should this party be any different:) Oh, and one more thing, a recipe. I haven't shared a recipe with you today. How's this one from Country Woman Magazine. Not only does it celebrate National Pasta Month, but with a name like Macaroni 'N' Cheese Pizza, it also pays tribute to National Pizza Month too! Oh so clever, I am. Aren't I:)

Don't forget National Vodka Day AND National Taco Day are celebrated on October 4th! (pasta a la vodka anyone:)

  4. Oh goody! I'm off to take a photo of the Knight's pasta mess - seriously... that's what we call it - and will post about it next week. It's quite easy and so delish my friends request it if *I* sign up to bring a post-baby, post-surgery, etc. meal. And my board has DEMANDED it for December, when it's my turn to provide dinner.

  17. Hi, Louise! I'm in Denver visiting my parents, so just wanted to say a quick hi. I hope to share a pasta recipe soon :) I'm certain you could make potato rolls from my potato bread dough. The dough is rather sticky, though and might be hard to shape perfectly. But if looks don't matter too much, go for it. They'll taste wonderful!

PS...I've never used Linky tools on my blog, but they seem to work just fine for many of my groups who use them for monthly parties, etc.
